I had a cheap Logitech webcam ca $30 which gave awful pics but I was able to combine the use of my Blue Yeti Studio USB mic with the logitech & get good sound but lousy pics.I use a PC/Windows 7.

On the recommendations of the salesman I purchased a top of the line Microsoft Cinema Webcam which on its own produced great video but lousy sound(speech quality). The salesman said I could use my external mic but it is not possible as any attempt to disable the webcam mic completely disables the webcam. The store refunded me on the purchase but I'm still looking for a webcam that will do the job.

I see a number of postings on youtube that are done on webcams & judging by the good sound quality must have been done using external mics? Does anyone have any suggestions on suitable webcams? Thanks for any input.

I use a simple logitech but on the higher end. Has bunches of options for pic quality and they all exceed what my puter will do but even on the medium settings the quality is good. It works great with my Blue Yeti, but you have to go in and disable some hardware in the audio settings to get it to work correctly.

Couldn't you delete the audio from the video and replace it with the Yeti sound? (I don't know if it's possible, but it should be.)

I ended up purchasing a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 & it allows for the use of external mics with the video set up. It appears that the problem is with the Microsoft units.

The Logitech Pro when turned on has a pop up box that shows all mics feeding into the computer & it is a simple matter to just tick the appropriate box.

The picture/video quality on the Logitech is IMO far superior to the Microsoft Cinema. Both were top of the range units but the Logitech was 30% less expensive.

Also the mic on the Logitech is not in itself so bad & is also superior to the Microsoft mics. But the ability to use USB Condenser Studio mics with the Logitech make it better for music.

Thanks for the input.
