I've completed my custom chromatic.
- 12 steel reeds from 1847s (not from Saxony) - Hand-polishing - Held with 1.4 suzuki bolts - Embossed slots
I didn't expect it to be THAT different from a stock chromatic. In fact, the difference is almost the same as OOTB diatonic vs. customized.
The new chromatic is the one below (above is my first, probe instrument):

Jim, That is very nice. Great job. Help me out here since I know nothing about chromatic harps (Except that the players call the "chroms")
Why the difference in valves?? I notice 1-3 have what looks like the Seydel PT style and the other holes have another type. ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

I've used PT gazelle valves for the lower 3 holes because it's a tenor (Low C). The default saxony valves add some buzzing sound with heavier reeds.
And I used saxony valves for the rest of it, because they are more airtight.
