Hey guys! Hope you enjoy this cover of the song ' Tear Stained Eye' from Son Volt performed by me on harmonica and my friend Mitchell on guitar and vocals :)
Not too many people play in F# however the key of B is my favorite key so I got Mitchell to suck it up and do the song in F# haha hope you guys enjoy and please let me know what you think..

love this tune - You work around the melody pretty well - but you could nail it better. It's a very pretty melody - and completely do-able on the diatonic. It's not a blues tune though.

I miss playing country ! - Ya got me to lay down a quick overdub on Son Volt's original cut on the Trace Album - one of the best ever in the 'alt country' catagory.

This relates directly to the 'melody' thread of a few days ago - as well as to the 'is it blues?'thread of a few weeks ago. IMO You can take songs other than blues - and hit them with a blues approach, - which to my ear - you sort of do on your version of this tune. (It's kind of country too though) However - learning to play melody , - and get beyond the blues bag of licks & tricks, is very valuable and will make you a more all-around musician.

Rayne and Bone you guys got my old country soul a rising.Yes a few blues licks with a melody line really bodes well. Most nashville recordings with harp are 15 to 45 second in the pocket fills, but some songs really do sound better with that melodic harp playing soft along with the singer keeping time having some really nice solo opportunity on the breaks.Bravo Gentlemen
