A lot of the scenes are shot at Imbil in Qld which is really a very clean, tidy little town. Went there last Sunday to take pics of one of the last remaining steam trains that regularly runs. Unfortunately the steam train broke down & it was the old diesel rattler instead. The Goanna shots were taken yesterday at a barbeque in a very close National Park to us. They are a common sight and can be quite menacing. He was about 5 foot long & whilst not considered dangerous they can inflict nasty bites and scratches that turn septic. They hang about wherever there is food. Also the Kookaburra was eyeing off our food & we have often experienced them swooping and stealing the sausage from a bread roll whilst we are eating it. They are harmless but give us a fright.
