I'm sure this vid has been posted here, but it's worth bringing back every now and then. Almost one hour long. 804 likes and zero dislikes. It's worth its weight in gold both for the deathless slow rolling groove of the opening section--the Muddy Waters groove--and for the interesting white/black muddle of the historical moment when it was recorded in 1974:

The song with Junior on harp at 9:30 or so is awesome.

Beyond cool. Best hour I've ever spent on youtube. Makes me want to go buy a white firebird like Johnny's.

Yes that certainly is Jerry. Really great to see Pinetop at the peak of his powers as well.

Yeah - I noticed that Jerry is not mentioned on the info page credits. It caused me to click around his sight. - Worth a look. He recounts growing up around Maxwell Street in Chicago, with the likes of Little Walter playing on the sidewalk outside Lyon's Deli. "the spot opposite Lyon’s was where I spent the most time. It was also Little Walter’s preferred location. Walter was then an eighteen-year-old budding harmonica virtuoso, just a couple of years up from the south, who was still playing in the style of John Lee (Sonny Boy) Williamson, . "

HIs family's escape from the pogroms of Russia is also an interesting read http://www.jerryportnoy.com/maxwell-street-origins/

Still not sure what I think of Bloomfield after watching this - I tend to think he was a bit over rated - though he definitely was "into it" on this session.
