Tone, yeah, but time and phrasing, incomparable. I have this 78 and when I wind it up on my Victrola there's nothing like it. The needles are nails and I use a new one every time I play a classic 78. Playing the original disc that was waxed when the song came out is cool enough but it's more than that, the energy that translates through is spooky. Ghosts come out. BW's solo on Walking By Myself, epic on a victrola.
I love that photo of Walter - Print it out and put it on your wall where you practice harp and anywhere in the room that you move to his eyes will follow you and if your lucky and he likes what your playing you might even catch him crackin a slight smile!
