At SPAH I have the first models of a new shipment of my own-brand PowerBender harps, now in a range of popular keys: Low F, G, A, C. I'll be selling D models from my website soon. They are still at the original price of $30.
The new batch are made by a different Chinese manufacturer to my earlier own-brand Powerbender: Kong Sheng. This company uses welded reeds (copied from Suzuki technology). Their 10-hole harps are superior in playability and durability to any other Chinese diatonic right now.
Admittedly that's not saying a lot! These harps are still not up to the level of Hohner, Suzuki or Seydel. But quality is definitely improving among some makers in China, and the Kong Sheng harps are a notable step up from the general level.
I only have 10 of these harps with me at SPAH, 2-3 in each key. Track me down if you want to get one; I'll be at the Suzuki stand most of the day, then fly home tomorrow.
