This guy has not only written the definitive book on one-man bands, but he's a crack shot himself. National treasure. This is damn fine blues on all fronts:
you and I prominently featured in his book Adam. You with Satan and Adam and on your own, and me with Wilbert Harrison and on my own. If anyone is interested in 1 man bands his book is a must. Dave is a cool guy and uses a thing similar to Jessie Fullers Footella bass hybrid thing. The book is done top quality. Walter http://onemanbandbook.blogspot.com/

That's Vancouver's Bob Mercer (oops, no it's not. It's Gary Preston as corrected below. Sure look the same :) playing harp into the PA with Dave and Dave rippin' it up on guitars.

Dave Harris plays in an electric band setting as well. He's in Victoria, B.C., my neck of the woods. Bluemoose, if I remember correctly, you're in East Van., so it's your neck of the woods too.
In the summer Dave plays for the tourists, on the waterfront. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of blues, old and new.
Two years ago I heard him fronting a band, without knowing who he was, at Swan's Pub in Victoria. Swans is a great pub that features a different genre of live music every night, seven nights a week. Wednesdays are blues nights.
I was so blown away by his talent, I ran to my nearby hotel and got my harps and microphone between sets. I got back, introduced myself, and talked my way up on stage. He was doing lots of Chicago blues that night, and I got to stay up for the rest of the night.
His current band is Slim and the Deuces. Have a look and listen:

Just as an aside, I played with his current drummer for five years in the seventies. We may be old, but the blues spirit never dies!
@wolf: What was the name of your band? I played around Victoria in the '70s, too, in a band called "Honey Bee". I was on guitar back then; our harp player was Derek Walsh.

Actually, that's Gary Preston on harp with Dave at the Hornby Blues week. I was there and David Harris (Slim), David Gogo and Gary all were kicking ass that night at the instructors show!! Great week. Hey Wolfkristiansen - how you doing! Was glad to meet you at our Victoria jams
timeistight, the name of our band was "Thunderbird". We played in Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Okanagan from 1974 to 1979. Backed up James Cotton at the Commodore Ballroom a few times.
HTrain, send me an email! I'm trying to remember who you are, amongst the dozens of people I met at the jams this summer. Were you the one with the Double Trouble amp? (Which sounded great, by the way!). My email: wolfman1428 at hotmail dot com
