The last few mics I made I started using 250k pots instead of 100k; the transition through the volume levels is much smoother. I have tried both linear and logarithmic tapers and don't think there is sufficient difference to warrant worrying about it.
The smaller ones (16mm) are what you want, there are also tiny ones that do the job, but try and get ones with as long a shaft as you can; you can always cut it down.
Ebay is as good a place as any to get them. ---------- Lucky Lester

I hacksawed the bottom piece and installed a 250K pot. I think the size of the pot was 14mm. You need a small diameter pot. I think I bought a 5 pack so if you want one and have a paypal I'll sell you one providing I can find them.

I tend to inadvertently screw up the volume with controls that stick out of the bottom of the mic. I had to constantly re-adjust, which was annoying. The knob got twisted from moving my hands to adjust the cup or the cavity. It could be that my hands are too big.

Greg's volume control is one of the best harp gear purchases I've ever made...and that's saying something. I simply move it from mic to mic as needed. It is well made, looks good and works great. As Rick pointed out the control is out of the way but easy to get to. All the best on your journey to find what works for you! Jay ---------- Music speaks where words fail.

I've put a few V/Cs into mikes.Even managed to fit one into an Astatic biscuit ! But the best solution imo handsdown is one of Gregs V/Cs. For all the reasons given above. Its a very cool piece of gear. If you still want to install one, 250K is the recommended pot.And go for Audio taper otherwise you can end up with just an off/on switch.
