In Syd Sunday.
Main points.
Years ago Howard felt his playing sounded weak in certain positions so worked on those till they felt more fluid and comfortable.
I also tend to do what I do relatively less badly when playing so force myself to work on my weaknesses (singing, 1st and 3rd positions).
I was one of four at the session who admitted not knowing how to overblow. I tried a year or so ago, got frustrated and quit. I need to work on the "basics" still, so regarded OB as a luxury. Howard's method, similar embouchure to blow bends, works! I have been regularly getting 6OB on unadjusted harps. Maybe I do need to learn OBs after all.
Howard seems like a highly intelligent, really nice and highly perceptive guy. He opened my ears and my mind.
It as a wonderful opportunity to see a master of his art up close.
It was also great to meet some fellow harpers I knew just from the inter-highway.
Catch him if you get a chance.

@Stan. Balmain jam has moved nights/locations. Now "First Wednesday of every month, now at The Harold Park Hotel!! from 6.30pm, in the lovely room upstairs, cheap food and drinks available!!" I probably won't go. That's my busking and sometimes poetry night. The Bronze Wailers are at a cafe in Scurvy Hills every Saturday night.

Hi Everybody
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Neil Graham
and I have been providing high quality custom harmonicas
to the world market for the last 14years.
On Sunday 12th August it was my pleasure to attend the Howard Levy workshop in Sydney. It was great to see the man looking so fit.His whole approach to our instrument is unique and the results of his lifes' work are truly amazing. Thanks Howard for a great concert and workshops!!
Christian Marsh gave an ezcellent workshop on learning to play Chromatic harmonica for those who play diatonic
He is a charming and dedicated harp nut and it was great to hear him and Howard play together at the close of the concert. Thanks so much Christian.
We in Australia will see enormous benefit to our music culture if we can encourage great Player/Teachers to visit here from the U.S.and Europe .Last year we had Joe Filisko,Eric Noden and Brendan Power for a week of workshops and concerts in Albany as part of "The Great Southern"
which is part of the Perth festival.
This event was a raging success and fully attended.
Hopefully the next Sydney event will see beter support than what was seen last weekend as attendances were poor. Thanks Adam for having me on your list.
Warmest regards Neil Graham

Hi Neil. It was nice to meet you last week. People, when Howard was showing us how he did overblows, he borrowed one of Neil's harps from a guy in the audience. "Works better than mine" was his verdict.
Cheers

Hi MBHers,

Great to have you on board Neil!

One very important thing that Neil forgot to mention was that we was recently inducted (officially, signature ceremony, handing of certification) into the Hohner affiliated customiser program.

In fact, Neil is the first customiser in Hohners history to be inducted officially. Not bad eh??
