HI Guys,

How many harp players also like a spot of fishing. Me, I love it, went out last night and got about 14 snapper in the sea, biggest about 45cm. We were fishing in a 10ft inflatable, which we launched off the beach.
Id like to post a photo of the catch, anyone know how??

Post away. I love it to, though I only get to do it because of the good graces of a GREAT friend I have in Portland, ME, who's got a nice Grady White (25 ft I think). I don't own a boat.

Used to fish for "blues" in Casco Bay. But for many years they were gone. Fished right out of existance around Portland. They may be back now, haven't been out with him in a while.

Regarding photo post: I don't know. And I'm going to have a whale of a problem with the technology for the contest. I'm a dinosaur, I know just enough about my computer to be dangerous.....to myself.

Unfortunately you can't post the picture in the forum directly.

First you have to upload it somewhere...
If you don't know how, ask (there are different ways of doing so).

then type:
<*img src="url"/*>
remove the "*" and put the address where it says url.

The easiest way is to post it on rapidshare
(open rapidshare.com; browse your foto; upload and post the link as discribed above)
unfortunately it can only be viewed 10 times with a free account.

A better (no limitations) and free solution would be to open a google account. Then go to picasa and upload the picture there (again posting the link) as discribed above.

thats my 0.02. Anybody has better ideas?

If you mean by "here" the modernbluesharmonica forum. This is unfortunately not how it works. The only one that can upload stuff on modernbluesharmonica.com is adam. All you can do is post links so that the vid/picture appears on the forum - it has to be uploaded somewhere else first... .

If I ain't fishin. I'm scuba diving with em.

Spring in Ohio means crappie and walleye.

What the hell does 45cm mean to an old american. Must mean one big mother of a catch hey!

I do most of my salt water fishin on Tampa Bay. Love the Reds and Snook.

Everyday I wear my Seydel hat with my fish hook on it. I guess you could call me K.C. the Cable Guy/Harmonica player

Tryharp, what about that foto...? Upload it to rapidshare. I will do the same... so there will be at least 20 people being able to see your big catch... :)

P.s. take it easy with buddha. I think he's a good guy at heart.

Well, here in Pennsylvania,I'm hundreds of miles from the ocean. Trout season is right around the corner here. I'll be out with my flyrod, trying to catch the little buggers!

As a quick rule of thumb,5cm is about 2 inches.

Yeah. I've been a fisherman all my life. I live alongside The Coral Sea (Pacific Ocean) so I am a beach fisherman. 20 years ago I could go to the beach at any time & tide, with crappy gear, and be guaranteed of catching a feed. Today, either the fish are smarter, or they are not there. Even fishing with the best gear and freshest baits and at dawn or dusk & with the right tides does not guarantee a feed.

The last fish I cought was a Rainbow Trout 3 weeks ago from a mountain stream whilst on a camping / caravan trip.

@Aussie, I'm down in Victoria, the fishing down here is pretty good. Luckily for me my fishing buddy is great fisherman, and we can always get together a feed, and then some. We mainly fish for snapper and King George whiting ( which is arguably the best eating fish in the sea ). We usually fish areas that no one else does. The fish in the foto we caught by dragging the inflatable boat over the sand and putting it in behind a reef, where big boats cant get to from sea. There was a fair bit of excitement involved, and the first attempt we got hit by a wave and had to retreat to the beach and empty all the water out of the boat and try again.

@ LIP RIPPER - Nice one, Ive got a lower end Shimano TLD star, I have been using a lot of Okuma gear lately, which I like. I'd love to know what LIP RIPPER means, and what sort of boat youve got.

Update on the fish, it was delicious! We had one filleted, rolled in a bit of flour and fried up to a nice crispy skin, with some chips (fries, Fites). The big one we ate tonight THai style, baked in al foil with lemon grass, chilli, kaffir lime leaves, corriander ( cilantro ), spring onion ( shallots, green onion ), all of which I grow in my garden + a nice coconut based sauce. As well as fishing, harp and guitar, my other passions are cooking and gardening.

I gave 2 fish away to one of our good friends ( actually the one that got me loaded, and caused me to disgrace myself on the comp thread ).

( NOte : Ive broken my cardinal rule already......had to have a hair of the dog to get over that bloody hangover ;-} )

@KC if you ever have a foto of a crappie, or a walleye, a red or a snook, post it up man, I'd love to see it. We catch snook sometimes ( I guess its a different fish, its actually a long finned or short finned pike ), some peeps call snapper reds here.

WHENEVER WE GO OUT TO FISH I OFTEN SAY "LET'S GO RIP SOME LIPS" AS IN RIPPING THE LIPS OF THE FISH HENCE THE BOAT NAME "LIP RIPPER". I THOUGHT IT KINDA WORKS AS A HARP PLAYER TOO.

OUR BOAT IS A 2006 SEAPRO SV2100CC BAY BOAT. SHE'S 21'8" IN LENGTH WITH AN 8'6" BEAM. SHE'S GOTTA SHALLOW DRAFT AND SHE'S TOUGH ENOUGH FOR THE BIG WATER WHEN THE WINDS ALLOW IT. IT'S OUR 11TH BOAT AND I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING ELSE TO DATE THAT I'D TRADE FOR. MERCURY BOUGHT THE COMPANY IN 07 AND THOUGHT THEY COULD FORCE PEOPLE TO BUY THEIR ENGINES IF THEY SOLD A QUALITY BOAT. WELL, IT BIT'EM IN THE ASS. THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS IN SHORT ORDER. EARL BENTZ BOUGHT THE MOLDS SO I'M SURE WE'LL SOON SEE THE SEAPRO'S WITH THE TRITON NAME ON THEM. THAT'S FINE, EARL IS A FIRST RATE GUY AND BOAT BUILDER.
