I see that Annie Raines has come out with a new instruction series. Has anyone seen this yet, and what do you think? http://truefire.com/techniques-guitar-lessons/blues-harmonica-blueprint/

I've got it John and it has helped me a lot. If you're at the intermediate or above level you might find it a little boring but its very well done for the beginner/advanced beginner. Between it and Jon Gindicks book I've been making a lot of progress. Going to get some of Adams instructional material soon too.

Annie is one of the harmonica teachers you'll find on the side bar(click on harmonica teachers). She has huge talent and abilities. She will help you become a better player. If you are a beginner this video would be something to consider. If you have some of the basics down, you might consider skype lessons with her.

I have been playing for about two years, and think I'm a little past beginner stage, maybe "advanced beginner". I'd like to move into a solid intermediate position.
Do you think this course will help me, or is it geared toward beginners?
Thanks.

Why not email Annie and tell her a little about where you are and where you want to go. Include things you do well, things you know you need to improve on. If you can include a recording of yourself it would help her understand where you are in your playing. She will give you an honest opinion of what the best thing would be to move to the next level.

Truefire has this course listed under the curriculum heading of "Beginner to late intermediate". If you've been playing for two years you're probably going to find some of the instruction old hat but you're also more than likely going to find plenty to keep you busy for awhile.
It's very in depth with over 4 hours of video, animated graphics, 75 pages of tab, and live band jam tracks. It also come with Truefire's lesson player which allows pip, looping, set beginning and end points, and slow motion.
Here's the description of the course from the website.
"Raines starts you off with a comprehensive orientation of the instrument; anatomy, holding the harmonica, hand positioning, blowing, drawing, swells, sliding and playing chords, straight harp vs. cross harp, tension, resolution and resolving to the draw. Once you have a grip on the fundamentals, Annie shows you a classic cross-harp blues riff and teaches you how to develop clear and clean control of single notes. You’ll then start working with scales, degrees and intervals. Basic blues beats and breathing techniques come next making you well prepared to start digging in and blowing some cool blues.
You’ll learn train rhythms, phonetics, Sonny Terry countrified rhythms, shuffles, the blues march, more chords and accents, a John Lee boogie, 12-bar blues, the blues scale, all varieties of bends, blue note triplets, wolf calls, boogie basslines, reed theory, vibrato, tremolo, more swell techniques, tongue-blocking and all the requisite techniques and tricks of the harp trade.
In the final section of the course, Raines teaches you an impressive range of blues tunage, all visually notated, thus equipping you with a repertoire guaranteed to win new friends, influence good people and get those nods from the kids".
I've also heard that later on she's going to release another Truefire series that picks up where this one left off.
I really think Annie did a great job with this series and I like the Truefire style of interactive software. I'd say give it a shot. They offer a 100% money back guarantee if you're not happy with it for any reason so you've got nothing to lose.
I'm just grateful that there's so much good instruction available to choose from now as opposed to 20 years ago. After I finish Annie's instruction I plan to further my knowledge with courses from Adam, Ronnie Shellist, and David Barrett.
Good luck with whatever you choose!
