I love this style of playing. Comping rhythms are a lot of fun and deceptivly difficult to do at times.

Check Amazon for "Kickin' It", " Medicine Show Man", or a compilation called "Drivin' Blues".

Okay, this rhythm has got me hooked. It is in the key of C but I cannot get it on a diatonic. Any chance this might have been played on a 364 solo tuned MB?

The nearest I got to the main rhythm was
-3' -3' with a little slurry bending
-2 2
-1 -1 2 2 -1 -1 2 2 -1

Tabs are useless trying to describe how it goes but that's the basis I started with.

Anyone trying to crack this may find this 2 minute loop of the main rhythm useful. Slow it down if you have the gear. Let us know how you get on and what you think is happening here.

Tooka, that is interesting. I was thinking cords and some blows in there. I know that about 10 seconds he hits the 4 draw. I wil be working on this for the next few weeks. I have it slowed down on Capo.

Hi Tooka.

I get -3' -3' -2 2 -1
-2 -1 2 -1 -2 -1 2 -1 -2
rinse and repeat for the first bit

On the core rhythm, I hear only two notes and 3 beats.

Something like -1 -1. 2 and repeat.

However, this still does not sound right. I am playing on a Lee Oskar and I am pretty sure he is playing on a Marine Band.

I am still thinking a MB 364........?

You've got excellent taste, lumberjack. That's a wonderful cut. I'm going to find some place for it on this website. Thanks for sharing it.

Rolling off the -2 into the -1 to -1 to 2 to 2 to -1 to -1 to 2 to 2

Adam, maybe this could be part of the curriculum in Campbell in September?

Okay, one more time.

Roll off the 2 draw into the 1 draw (2 times) then to the 2 blow once.

If only it was that easy @Zad. There's a lot going on there. I think I'm getting a bit closer with my experiments but I couldn't begin to explain what I'm doing yet. It's mysterious this harp business.

I agree with Bronze.
It's played on a C (not 364).
It's funny when you get the synchro between sliding the harp and breathing in/out!

Okay, I slowed this down to 1/2 with Capo and if I start on the double -3' it slides past the -2 to the -1 twice to the 2 twice back to the -1 twice back to the 2 twice then the -1 twice bro free going back to the 2 twice.

However the syncopated rhythm has got this older white guy tied up in knots and flexibility is not a key strength of mine.
