I couldnt find my favorite A marine band for a few days, anyway went to put on my shorts that had just been washed and there it was in the pocket.

This had happened to me once before, about a year ago, the Misses washed a marine band in C. Anyway the comb swelled up like crazy, it was poking way out past the plates, and warped all over the place. I sat it outside and it gradually dried out, but it shrank way back and was still warped, I pulled it apart and it had gone all brittle, the tines just snapped off like carrots, dead harp.

So when I felt the A in the pocket, had a feeling of dread, but pulled it out and low and behold its looking fine, run up and down the notes, a couple of cobwebs and a taste of detergent, but soon playing like normal. This harp was a self customised harp, comb sealed with beeswax, went through the wash and not a bit of swelling, I was impressed.

email me your address and I will send you a composite comb for a marine band. It was cracked but I fixed it, it's just not something that I would "sell" but it's looks good.

The composite combs don't swell. You might have to drill your own holes because I drill them in different places that stock.

What did you say the composite combs are made out of again? Are they the comosite material that is sometimes used in construction in place of natural wood?

it's wood impregnated with resin so it won't swell.
