Anybody got a link to the mod kit by Alnico for the VHT Special 6? Ebay says sold out? And does Jim Rossen offer a ready made up kit or do you just follow his mod instructions and buy the parts individually? If so how do I get Jim's kit?

Alnico mod kit link - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alnicomagnet-Mod-Kit-Blues-Harp-VHT-Special-6-/360473165716?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item53eddfff94

£29.99GBP (approx $48USD) At that price though I wouldn't bother.

You can buy the parts for the Jim Rossen mods (which are superb) in any electronics shop or online for a fraction of the alnicomagnet mod. Just follow Jim's list and purchase the parts. It's very, very easy to do. I did the Jim Rossen mods to my VHT and the parts only cost me about £5 GBP ($3USD) in total and that was only because I bought spares in case I messed it up. Maplins in the UK is good for parts. I'd imagine somewhere like Radio Shack in the USA is the place to go. As far as I'm aware Jim doesn't offer a kit. Just send Jim an email and I'm certain he'll advise you. He is a very approachable and very helpful guy.

Libertad - It makes it sound more like a mini Bassman. I like the stock amp and it sounds great, but after the Jim Rossen mods the sound was much better. It has more bottom end, sounds less boxy and has a much more pleasing tone. If you do it and don't like the sound then all the mods are reversible and it's cheap as chips to do, so my advice would be to try it. Just get parts from Maplins. You can buy single resistors for about 50-80p each.
On a side note the best mic with the VHT I've found is a 545 or SM57, they sound much bigger and better than a bullet does with it.

NB: If you do the mods my advice would be to add the line out as well. I've used it in mine and it sounds great through a PA.
