I'm looking for speakers for my amps. Eminence lil' buddy seems a popular model in 10". Struggling to find one or 3, at reasonable price here, but haven't given up. Im also looking for a 12" to replace a very farty carvin speaker in my 30 w combo. Wondering about the cannabis Rex. Any reports on this speaker? Speakers seem very expensive through retailers in Australia, cheaper on eBay but choice is limited. Importing from o/s is very expensive, last time i did this the freight was more than the speaker, so its a decision not taken lightly. interested to hear your experiences, especially with the various eminence patriot and redcoat series speakers, also celestions. But anything really.
Thanks a lot,
Dave

I found this speaker walking through an old building that was closing down. I spotted it hanging on the wall and asked if I could have it, surprisingly they said yes.

I like the Cannabis Rex speaker a lot. I have it in my Mission Chicago 32-20 amp: very punchy with some grit. Very Loud.

Here is a review of the speaker.

The sound clips on the Mission Harp Amps website are the Cannabis Rex speaker in my Mission amp. Nic Clark playing.

Speakers is a difficult and important part of the sound. The same speaker can lift a amp to a higher level or make it useless.
Cannabis Rex is a good speaker! But not in all amps. Its a good speaker in my cruncher clone but not to my 5D3 clone. CR is a very effective and easy-driven elements that provide much volume. It emphasizes the midrange and can easily provide feedback in an amplifier that has a bit muffled tone. In a treble rich and bassy amplifier with weak mid range they are good. Or if you have a well function bass, mid, treble tonestack on the amp.

10" speakers is harder to find. I personally like to mix 10 speaker to get a good sound. One bassy as a Alpha 10 one hard as a jensen RI and one loose and woody Celestion tube 10 is my 2 cents...

Thanks Rick. Nic Clarke hey? Wonder if he'll be any good when he matures. ;)
Arne, yes I hear you. I want a 10" for my sf Princeton reverb, and I want to mix up the speakers in my hr deville 410. It's good and loud and sounds ok but I think it could get a bit fuller, so I'm thinking maybe one or two different speakers.
My 30 w combo is what I am considering the CR for. It's a kind of Marshall-combo copy EL 34 thing, inboard reverb, 3 stage eq, master gain and volume.
Thanks again guys
