Well, I guess I'd rather just buy a new speaker for my amp instead of having the old Oxford reconed. All of the write-ups I'm seeing are geared toward guitar players.
I need a new 8 inch, 4 ohm speaker for my vintage Champ. Do harp players have a speaker preference, i.e.) Weber, Jenson, Eminence, etc? Would you recommend a speaker with ribs or without ribs?
Thanks...

This is a good place to start: Weber alnico Sig 8
...or this.

I really like the Weber 8A125-O with the H dust cap. I've got one in my tweed Champ clone and it sounds great.

I like it too. I read Brian P's 8" Speaker Review, (Brian Purdy from Harpgear) on the blog.
The Weber site has lots of great speakers that they say "Will not fit in tweed and early BF Champs." Apparently, the deep bell speakers interfere with the Cap Cans.

I would try the smooth cone, alnico Sig8. I had that in the Champ for a while and was happy with it.

So your original would need reconing? Not just having a connection problem? ----------
