Hey guys, I made a video with the Harpgear Rock Bottom amp.

Nothing much to do with skill or technique... it's for people who are interested in the gear mentioned. Enjoy!

Would love to get any kind of feedback!

Hey Zhin,

I thought you did a great job on the demo, and the amp sounds killer...Nice jam tracks as well!

I'm looking for a mic to play through my Pignose 7-100 practice amp...Any thoughts on which (Beta 57a or SM57) might sound better in this situation...Also, what is the purpose of the in-line impedance adapter?

Thanks!

Hey thanks a lot Chevus!

Sorry for the late reply, this topic got buried pretty fast! lol

I'd suggest you try both mics with the Pignose. But I suspect the SM57 will do better than the Beta 57a. It will be cheaper too! But please, don't take my word for it. You need to try out other mics too. Shure has a few more like SM58, PG48, etc etc...

The Pignose is a sweet little amp. I intend to buy one second hand if I ever see one for sale here in Malaysia.

The in-line impedance adapter extremely important. Guitar amps were not designed to match with microphones. Vocal stick mics are typically lo-Z (low impedance) and guitar amp inputs are hi-Z (high impedance).. so you need something to match the impedance.

If you don't match it, you will not get a strong or punchy tone. You will probably lose a lot of detail in the treble or bass.. or both.

It's a little cylinder shaped adaptor usually with a male 1/4" plug on one end and fem/male XLR on the other. Please take note that IT IS NOT just a 1/4" phone to XLR adaptor or cheat cable. It MUST be some kind of impedance converter.

Hope this helps.

Oh and I got a new video up for anyone who is interested.
