I've just come across a quiet but extraordinary video of Washington DC harp player Charlie Sayles. I'll admit: I've somehow gotten to the age of 50, played the harp for 33 years, and lived the life of a sometime-pro harp player without actually hearing this guy. He's terrific. He's not spectacular, at least in this video. He just plays....properly. That's the word that my teacher Nat Riddles would have blessed him with.

I saw Charlie a few times in Norfolk, Va. around 87 or 88. He was very good and able to nail Whammer Jammer. If I remember, he was part of a 3 piece-- just him, a female bass player and a drummer.

Charlie Sayles will be opening for Satan and Adam at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on Wed., June 17. He will also be sitting in with us on a couple of tunes. This will be a show to remember. Please spread the word.

Awesome stuff Adam! Looks like you are not so negligent after all...... I'm sure it's gonna be a blast..... Thats a pretty cool site, and you can listen to a track of his.... Check out the videos Charlie has up on his website. Let's just say the band he's playing with KNOWS how to put on show. It's bad ass! I'm just sayin'...
