Hello,
I both collect and play my harp mics, and appreciate the aesthetics of the design of many of the desktop models. I have several on bookshelves, and as accent pieces around the house.
I recently got a Shure 440 SL with a 99B86 element in very nice condition, and wanted a way to both leave it on the base, and play it without much muss or fuss. As many of you probably know, they do not just pop off! ;-)

Greg Heumann always does nice work, and is regular contributor here, so I sent it to him and asked him to brainstorm a little. Greg cooked up a really slick method of modifying the mic and stand so that it literally just lifts off when I want to play it or put in my harp case for travel.
Here are some pictures of how it works.

I figured there may be others out there who may want something like this done, so thought I'd share the customization Greg did for me. You can find him at:<

If anyone wants the details on what he did, Greg is a regular here, and would probably be the best source of that information. I do know that it works WONDERFULLY as intended.
Regards, Johncn
