I downloaded the Juke lesson the other day and starting working at the 6 note beginning that is repeated like 8 times. Im finding it difficult to play this correctly. I suppose with more practice Ill eventually get it. Plus a harmonica in the key of A which should be on its way to my house. Anyway, I seem to get closest to the right play by doing a glissando over the first 3 notes. Or playing the first note then playing the 2nd two at the same time sounds right. I find it difficult to put the 4th note after either of those without it sounding out of place. I almost want to let that one go and glissando the first 3 notes and then play the last two. Would anyone have any suggestions or experiences they could share when first learning the first 12 bars of this tune? It has got to be the most difficult to play on Adam's lesson progression (between the first beginner and that one) for me so far.
Wish I could find a teacher in souteast PA to work with but every place I called doesnt have a harmonica teacher. Must be a Pennsylvania drawback. Ever so greatful for these forums and Adam's lessons.
Thanks in advance for your time and any assistance.

Take it very slow at first. Don't try to play to the speed of the actual track until you have the lick memorized AND committed it to muscle memory. Play the notes very slowly and deliberately, working on tone and technique. Do this over and over (a hundred times if needed) slowly increasing speed until you can play it at the speed you want. Good luck.

Ryan--Philly area? This might interest you:
Happy New Harp Year We have talked about this for sometime. Now we are going act on this.
This is going to be the first meeting, jam session for the Harmonica club that we are starting and seeing if you guys and girls from this area are really interested in this type of get together. If you never played before that is ok.If you can play like Kim Wilson that is ok also. The first meeting will be held in the same location where we had the Adam Gussow clinic. There will be no charge for this.It is about fun with the harp and to learn from each other. Dr Michael Cohen will supply the guitar player .Thanks Doctor

Cool, is that from Harp-l ? Ill have to see if I can find their contact. Looks like I really have to dig in and look at that site more. I even seen a harpist named Seth Holzman has a course over the next two months in Philly. And here I thought I lived in a harmonica/blues dead zone.

No,its something Fred Akins started up.He posts on here, so maybe he'll contact you.Don't want to post his cell# without his OK. Fred organized the Adam Gussow clinic in July in Philly. Guess you missed that one. Seth was there,he may be at the jam, too.I'd go,but the commute is killer-I live in Pittsburgh.

I just went through the same issues with that lesson. Like others have said, just start as slow as you need to and gradually increase the speed. Eventually you'll play it right without thinking about the notes you need to hit.
