A friend has asked me to have a look at one of these.

It is very old (pre 1930 I guess) in pretty good nick but unplayed for years. Still in its box.

Is it worth anything? and is it worth working on by someone who knows what they are doing?

Are they worth anything? If you can find someone to give you more than $50. Sell it
OK first you need to know what you have. Play it!
Is it solo tuned like a new Hohner 10 hole 260?
Or are the notes in the same arrangment as a C diatonic.
The first Chromatic was tuned the same as a diatonic.
The second version was the first Chromatic as we know it. The problem with that one is the first blow note isn't C. It is E! It's like they cut of hole one and added a hole at the top. Thank God they changed that!
I have both of these harps. That's what sucks about buying of Ebay!

i had one of these got it used after about 7 years i broke it in to where i could play swing type stuff (third?) yeah like organ like chords but i found it useless for blues. this is the one that looked like it had tracing paper valves but it wasnt paper. it was such a lung workout i couldnt play it for long. i didnt attempt chromatic until i saw hakans vids and had access to a super chrom and a few chromettas. the chromettas are easier to play sound mellower but you cant wail one them. the 8 hole chrometta was a total waste the 14 hole was best but the 12 holes super chromonica blew it away. i know im prolly wrong but i found the 12-16 holers better for blues.

If the windsavers are made of leather, than it's pre-WWII.
