It's about a guy called Andy Mackie, who after a number of heart surgeries, decided he'd had enough of life and spent the money he had for meds on a bunch of harps for schoolkids and went about spending his last days doing something he'd always wanted to do. Teach kids music.
This was a man who did some great deeds and planted some seeds that will no doubt grow to spread joy. Think about how many of these kids will sit down one day with their kids and play a simple little song...makes me smile.
I completely agree. What a wonderful thing to be able to share the gift of music in the way this guy has.
I'm seriously thinking about looking into doing some like this. There was a post a short while ago about harmonica benefiting COPD sufferers. I figure that if I can't spare an afternoon a week 'giving it all away', then I really have too much crap in my life.
I'm going to get in touch with the local schools and hospitals and see if I can do something.
