I like his humor, his insights in his youth, hoboing and working on a steamboat, and I just love his views on religion and his experience as a preacher (in the second part of the document).
When a young reverend lectures him about alcool, and tells him "You need help !", Sam answers : "I don't need help...", then changes his mind : "gimme a quarter !"
Really a smart guy, the kind I would have liked to know personnally.
