I've don't know what to get for Christmas and I have a question that maybe other people were asking. Would a Digitech Whammy be a good pedal for harp. I want something that is interesting and useful, such as 'dive-bombs' with a harmonica. Can anyone tell me if this is a bad decision?

I'm gonna bump this....as I was thinking the same thing today....for some random reason.

Anyone buy and/or tried it with a harp?

I use sometimes whammy model in my Digitech RP-200. Actually whammy is an instrument itself. It actually don't matter what is going to whammy. You can play or sing one note and do crazy sounds. I like it for one, maximum two songs a gig, it's really cool and it's enough.

Never tried one myself, but I think Lee Oskar uses one on harmonica.

Randall Blamblett used one on his sax when he was with Steve Winwood.

Lee Oskar uses two Whammy pedals, for many years he used two WH 1's. One for 1 octave down, one set to 'detune' for a chorus effect. Often Lee uses an envelope filter between the two Whammmy pedals and lateley he has been using a WH 4 in place of one of his WH 1's, I guess one of the originals finally failed on him...
I have the same setup on one board and it works well for the above effects. Many Whammy fans say the original WH 1 has better tone/tracking than later incarnations. I have never A/B'd them with a later one so don't know. WH 1's are cool and fun though. I have fooled with the whammy effect lots but don't use it in performance.
Incidentally these days I'm prefering the (tone of the)EH Hog for octave/2 oct down effects ..and recently on another p/board have been pairing the or Pog2 with a Neo Ventilator pedal which is the best Leslie cabinet simulator I've heard. All the above effects can be seen used with harmonica on youtube, except the ventilator. There are great clips from guitar/organists though.

Thanks Rick. That's what i've been lookin for ;-)

I was thinking about picking up something like the WH 1 for a random effect to try out.

Thanks for the insight.
