Rod Piazza produced a great album with Johnny Dyer in 1983 called "Jukin'". Well worth a listen...guest appearance by George Smith.

My feeling is that if you're going to upload an entire copyrighted cut from a recent release--which isn't actually something I think one should do very often--you should identify the artist, the title of the track, and the title of the album in the "show more" panel under the video. I view this as common courtesy to the artist. I always ask myself, "How would I feel if somebody did this with my music?" It's justified in certain circumstances--uploading a full cut--I believe, and one circumstance is when somebody is a fine player who basically has no presence on YouTube.

Dyer is one of those people. I agree with you that he should be better known. I played on a show with him at the House of Blues L.A. many years ago, but I've heard nothing of him since then.

So I think your instinct to give him more visibility on YouTube is excellent. But please think about providing the IDs, so other folks can, for example, go to iTunes and buy his stuff.

Hummel cut an album a few years ago with Johnny singing Muddy Waters tunes. Mark features him every couple of years on the blowouts. He isn't as active as he used to be but he is still out the quite a bit.

Hey Adam, I came across a site where you could download David Payne - yes this one - ringtones. I about crapped a brick.;)
I think any artist who is in showbiz for biz should google his own name once in a while - you'd be surprised what is out there.

Good Point Adam...I looked for some good video of him on youtube but could not find any. So I made the video. By the time I finished ( I really was not sure of how to do it) and uploaded it to youtube I was frustrated, and did not even think of it. I'll see if I can edit it.

Check out Johnny Dyer's CD "Rolling Fork Revisited" with Mark Hummel on harp.

Mark had come to play in Michigan a couple of years ago and recommended this CD to me. It is kind of a Muddy tribute with Johnny on vocals.

Good stuff.
