Following on from Adam's lesson on I Got You (I Feel Good) I thought it would be interesting to find another soul number with horn parts that would play easily in cross harp.

What I came up with was Otis Redding's Shake. This plays very easily in second position. From what I've worked out so far there is only one note to bend (3draw from Db down a semitone
to C).

The late great Otis did this song in C I think but as I sing it in A that is the key I'm working in, therefore a D harp.

If you can play the horn intro then the rest of the song should give you no problem. There are only 3 chords, A,D&E,
or if you prefer, the 1 4 5.

I won't attempt to give you a harp tab but I can give you the notes. If you're not sure where the notes fall on the harp go to the Coast to Coast Music website where you can print off the note layout chart for richter tuned diatonic harmonicas.

The notes for the intro are F# E C# E C# E F#

A A C# C# C# A F# E
(the second note of A is a very
quick passing note)

Repeat the first line then

A G A G E G A

If you can play this the rest of the song will fall into place. Note that after the intro the horn parts are played from the blues scale so all the C notes will be natural.
I've not yet worked out the solo but you will hear it starts over a D chord.

If anyone fancies playing this and cannot work out any of the riffs, post a reply and I will give you the notes.

If anyone finds a mistake in my notation please let me know.

ps If you want to learn this in another key, work out the tab on a D harp and then play the same holes on the harp of your choice.
