I would really like to create a 10 to 15 song chromatic study list for people like me that play mainly diatonic but wish to begin the journey into chromatic, maybe some d minor blues (no slide) or tunes with slide in at all times or maybe a few slide changes. Please help out!

1. Blues in the Dark - George Harmonica Smith (Eb -slide in the whole time).

I do not think there are any particularly simple blues classics on chrome, but Little Walter's Blue and Lonesome and Crazy Mixed Up World are good places to start. Also, George Smith's Boogie'n with George and Monkey on a Limb are great. William Clarke, Rod Piazza, Rick Estrin almost always include chrome on their albums. I recently learned Primich's Texas Love Kit, he's got a few good chrome tunes.

The two George Smith tunes Michael Rubin listed are played on a key of C chromatic played in 1st position, so the slide will be necessary/

As a starting point,in D minor blues, any draw note will work, slide out. It helps you get more comfortable with the chromatic.

i could only play button out took me 7 years to break a 10 hole chromonica in to play blues.

then came hakans vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oEmu1XOcTM
he is one turned out down cat ;)

this got me using the button on a 12 hole C chromonica for some reason i picked up my useless Db harp and alternated between the two. i didnt know what key i was in it turns out i was in C (thanks harp nerds)which is (lemme get my notes) yeah when you push the button in you play in 6th position on Db my guess is hakan is playing in C but im sure im wrong. we argued this to hell and back with little walters thats it. and supposedly stevie wonder plays in C slide in and out on "fingertips" which i cant play. so im just working on hakans thing because i can play along and see when he pushes the button. im doing "summertime" on an E CX12 with the button mostly in and trying to copy some of stevies tricks because stevies songs are great to serenade girls with. my tuner says i do this in D and the harp nerds say D 11th position button out D 4th position button in. i just know it works and i like it but if you can pick up that jab the slide and play in 6th in C trick thats also on little walters thats it and stevies finger tips, it will really look like you know what your doing and possibly even get you laid. the one blow/draw almost sounds like sax and everyone likes to have bad sax. special thanks to hakan youre making my life as a poser much more fulfilling almost to the point where it looks like i have actual talent. peace brother!

I SUCK I QUIT! this isnt gonna get me quickie sex in the toilet with cocktail waitresses. back to the rolling stones and yardbirds. i took most of the valves offs im runnin out of air, and i should have enough because i quit smoking a whole 6 weeks ago. that explosion is the ceiling fan on the mic not me blowing into the bullet. i had to have it on because its so hot i cant breathe. im not making excuses for being incompetent but suckage has alot of contributing factors besides you cant play. should i glue the valves back on and try again? is there a corian comb for the CX12? maybe ill try again with a beret and leather blazer and it will work.

Billy, I think the beret and blazer is the way to go. I do a parody version of Heartbreak Hotel, and I emulate Elvis' mutton-chop sideburns by hanging a couple of pork chops (couldn't find mutton chops) on my face, just forward of my ears. It's quite effective.

ok this is nothing new but these songs are all on youtube i dont know what key summertime is in. i played along with blues in the dark first time i ever played button in chromatic. it was fun it helps to know that little walter doodle thing he does on my babe if you can do it on diatonic. its best not to get scared and just play along and wing it. i found it quite sloppy but way cool.

NOT TRUE. 7 draw slide out is B which is the major 6th if you are playing D minor on a C chrom. That is a BAD NOTE for playing D minor blues.
