What do you all think about little walter's playing? Mostly pucker or tongue block?

I think Little Walter made everyone that came after him play better. THey play the way they do because of him even if people today play better.I talked to Rod Piazza in a bar a couple months ago and he said after Little Walter we are all still trying. Thats the respect that he has for Walter. I agree with the previous post.

I think i remember reading somewhere that he mostly tongue blocked - but sometimes tongue curled too.

During the late 1980s through to 2001 (I think) I conversed with Rod many times, indeed every time he came to England. He's a great guy, and very approachable. He'll talk blues any time but when you mention Little Walter he smiles broadly and the enthusiasm level goes up several notches!

We have that in common - I need Walter's music like I need oxygen and food!

Tongue blocker...
THats what inspired me to tongue block.
I love the octives and the slap as well as the flutter.
His phrasing and sense of space, though... wow.
