My name is T. Hutch, a recent "disciple" of Adam Gussow on YT and have purchased some beginners lessons. I have had a harmonica or two around for many years but never had the passion or obcession that is needed to become a serious blues player. When I met Adam on YT I was inspired to run down to the local harp store and buy me a harp. That was over a month ago and I have been practising over 2 hours every day and am starting to get the feel for the 12 bar set up and th 1,4,5, different techniques and tone producing excercises that have me amazed at the complexity of our instrument. As a beginner I guess I`m just here to give Mr Gussow his props and to further my knowledge by, hopefully, getting some feedback on the best way to progress and just to say "what`s up"!

Hi Hutch!

Welcome to the forum.

My humble advice is to just keep on following the yellow brick road that Dr. Gussow has laid out for us. It sure has worked wonders for me in the last year--in the YT lessons, Adam will also mention other places to check out. If you hit a YT lesson you just can't do (like I do with overblows) just skip to the next lesson and keep on getting what you can.

I figure I'll come back on the overblow stuff when I'm ready for that. . .

Oldwailer: Yea, thanks for the tip. Thats basically whats happenin with me, just a daily fix of the lessons and some hours in the shed and I`m all good. Hey, what about Adams` lessons 7, 8, 9,& 10? Do we learn from the best or what? Where do you reside? later

I live in the Northwestern US--Washington. Where are you?

I think all of the lessons will be great when I get ready for them--at this point I just have to skip all the ones that include overblows.

Lesson 24 is my all-time favorite so far--slow blues. Adam just blows me away with that--I can play most of it now--but I'm still working on some parts of it. . .and of course trying to make it sound better. . .

Oldwailer...What`s shakin` but da leaves in da trees? Checked out .024 "On the Porch" and the first thing I noticed about the slow blues Adam was blowin was the vibrato was something to behold. If you got dat down , my brother from another mother, I`m in the car wit yous! So you on the other side of the mtn from da Hutch; I bein in Spokane, originally from between Tacoma and Imperial Beach, Ca., only been here for the past calender. Hey, I appreciate the time spent on making me feel a part of and getting the feel of the Groove. Right now I`m working on my bending ability and trying to build up my chops to get the 3 draw variables..it`s no easy venture, I got, maybe 2+ notes, but no more than that. You or anybody else out there got any good practice tips on shortcuts in the bends? Later
