hi,
what are the classic keys of harps, for the blues, please?
for example, if i wanted to play along with a basic 12 bar blues, in the Key of E, what options are there for me, in terms of harp keys?
thanks

key of Bb is good especially with horn players as we tend to play in F and Bb (first position) as well as C crossharp G and D crossharp A for playing with guitars.

Read Adam's FAQ section. He covers everything you need to know regarding what keys to acquire and why.

Playing in the "horn key" of Bb, I use both regular Eb and low Eb. Under the right conditions, the low harp sounds almost like a sax (Mississippi or or otherwise). The Ab is another nice low key to do third position on in Bb.
