At about 3:14 there is a harp solo--Mr. Tambourine Man--Does anybody know what he is doing?? All this lip motion going on--sometimes it seems like he's playing with his mouth wide open!
Well, it ain't blues--but I love this classic stuff. . .
no problem bro. Dylan always plays straight harp. He keeps a steady stream of air going through the reeds on his blow and draw notes. he breaths using a combination of his diaphragm and his nose alternatively like sonny boy williamson II, which allows him to play with what appears to be an open mouth. But I don't know the keys of the harps he uses generally. I love folk harp, isn't it great?
This one surprised me--I had never heard him doing blues before--and he does a great job of it--but there isn't any video of him doing it--just a picture.
Thanks for the explanation of how he is breathing--don't think I'll be learning to do that anytime soon--but it solved a mystery for me.
The folk harp was my first love on harp--until I discovered a Sonny Terry record back in the 70's--wore that sucker out in about one year.
