Hi fellow Gussow fans,
I just wanted to tell you all about a little competition I'm trying to get going on You Tube. I've just uploaded a video response to Adam's lesson 127 about the jam track no.5. Adam was showing a picture of Mr Satan and himself on the cover of Living Blues Magazine; he was very proud to be the first white musician ever featured on the cover of the magazine. This got me thinking about how amazing it was for Adam to play blues in Harlem with a character like Mr Satan and the fact that it was probably quite hard for him to be accepted by the Harlem community.
The upshot was that I wrote a set of lyrics for a song called White Boy Plays the Blues. The lyrics are a tribute to Adam Gussow and reference harp players who he says were an influence on him. My idea is to challenge all of Adam's You Tube students to take the lyrics and turn them into a finished song. I think it will be a great way to show our appreciation for all the effort he has put into the last year giving up his time to teach us how to play better.
So please take the time to check out the video, give it a go and post your efforts.

Chill out eharp, it isn't that hard to find, just type in Adam Gussow song challenge and it will come up. Or if you're that frustrated, here is the link.

OK GBM,
I'm working on it--but I just gotta say--you've got some really good lines going here--I got them down in my famous Gussow notebook--but there are more words and verses than I can think with--I might have to pare it down a little. I don't think Sonny Terry knew that many words! ;)
