Over twenty years ago, when I started playing Harp, my mom bought me a little package called "Soodlum's Harp Workshop". It was a pamphlet style book and an audio cassette. The narrator was an irish guy, and I think the harp player was a guy named Don Baker. It taught me some good licks, and covered the basics well. He also had a whammer jammer type song that put all the licks he taught together. I don't know what happened to my copies, but I was wondering if anyone else here has a copy.

Thanks,

Phil

I was thinking of this, and I'm bumping this old thread to see if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

It looks like Soodlum's, at some point, was bought out by Walton's Music (Soodlum's main biz, apparently, was tin whistles). Walton's appears to still be in business.

Looking at their offerings, there's a lot of Irish oriented stuff, especially in publishing. I'm pasting a link to their website (they're still selling Soodlum's tin whistle books).

Maybe you could contact Walton's and see if they know about the harp book

Waltons Music

There's a contact link for the company at the upper left of the page I'm linking too

Sounds a lot like this-

Beginning Blues Harp
Don Baker
PUBLISHER Music Sales Ltd

Still available, also on ebay.

Found it very useful as a starter, lessons and licks on each hole and bend, building up to a whole piece you can play.

Let us know if you find it.
