hi harpers, i just had to come back on line and tell you about a breakthrough i've just had. I've been trying to get notes out of holes 7,8,& 9 for well over a year with no luck,i've spent loads of cash looking for the harp that would fix this problem but no joy, well i've just followed the advice from patrick barker,i dropped my jaw and pulled my tounge back and down and WOW a lovely big fat juicey toned note jumped out of my harp!,it felt just as great as the first time i got a good bend,i;m totally over the moon!,thanx so much patrick,i've been blowing and drawing up the top end for the last 45mins,the dog is crapping itself but i'm happy! Sounds great, Geordie!

Though, you can skate by on the lower notes, you should be playing all of the holes that way.

The lower the jaw, the larger the sound cavity, the BIGGER the tone. That's why tongue-blockers claim lip-pursers don't have as good tone; there is a temptation in lip pursing to create a small sound cavity in your mouth and get less of your mouth on the harp.

Your welcome Geodiebluesman. I had the same problem myself until I realized that the high notes were really sensitive to jaw and tongue position.

Well I know what I'll be trying when I get home from work.
I've been avoiding the high notes coz I sounded like crap (if I sounded at all).
