when you go from one note to another, do you just go straight to the note, or do you do something with your tounge, like the to and ta thing, or stop blowing, or what? I guess noone's ever really specified what i'm suppose to do.

There are innumerable ways to transition from note to note. It's all context-dependant.
Just buy some of Adam's songs for beginners and start there. He explains the nuances in great detail. Obssessively try to replicate what he's doing. And then just move up to songs that are a little more advanced.
With all of the combinations of things you can do within your mouth and with your hands, you have to start with something basic and slowly build your repertoire of techniques (scoops, glissandos, tongue-slaps, phantom chords, word intonations, vamps, etc.etc.) with each new song you try to master.

it is something that you have to decide for yourself. try different approaches: sliding, stopping, hitting inbetween notes softer....
remember, there is no wrong way. unless you play like i do!
