I happened to see that SPAH has a performers list on its site for the August convention in Dallas. I didn't see Adam listed as a performer or on the seminar list.
I guess I took it for granted that he would be there. Is there a chance Adam will still attend?

No, I won't be at SPAH this year. It comes at a bad time for me every year: just before my fall term begins. I've got a book that I'm working on and it needs my attention. I'm pulling away from it three different times this summer to tour--this coming week, again in late June / early July, and yet again, for two weeks (combined with a family vacation) in late July / early August. SPAH just isn't in the cards.
But I'll be there next year for sure, when it's in Memphis.
I should note that I've only attended SPAH three times in my life: mid-1990s w/Satan & Adam; 2007 in Milwaukee; and last year in Virginia Beach. That's it. It's a rare thing for me.

Don't know how things are done these days for SPAH, but as a promoter and former booker for SPAH entertainment, there are always artists that someone would like to see that don't get on the roster.
Impossible to have them all.
Impossible to please everyone.

Iceman's right. In this case, though, the issue wasn't that I couldn't be put on the roster, but that I wasn't available. Even if someone from the organization had called and begged, I would have said no. My book takes precedence this summer. I can't spare three or four days. It's literally that important that I devote full time to the book.
SPAH is big fun. I look forward to seeing everybody at 2013 in Memphis.

I am planning to go for the first time this year. HCH sets the bar pretty high, but I am very excited to see how many ways SPAH will blow my mind.

Is SPAH definitely confirmed for Memphis next year?
The St. Louis club posted a while back that SPAH 2013 would be in St. Louis! See end of second paragraph...

As someone who lives three hours from Memphis and eight from St. Louis (and who was born in St. Louis and lived there until age nine, and who remains a diehard Cards fan)... either would work fine for me. :)

SPAH 2013 will be in St. Louis.
And I'd love to see Adam there. It's too early to talk about entertainers for '13, but it will be SPAH's 50th anniversary bash, so we'll be looking ot make it even better than usual.

I very probably will make it to SPAH this year, 3rd year in a row for me. It's not 100% cause I'm currently in between job limbo - soon as I get approval from my new gig! Too bad I'm doubtful of making it for the 50th anniversary next year but we'll see.

I posted in another thread that I plan on going. I run into similar problems to what Adam mentions. Technically, I work that week. This is the first time in 4years I can get that week off, which was confirmed Sunday.
I did the blow off in '10 as well as one of the blues jams. It is just impossible to include everyone. Fortunately, I didn't have to make any decisions...people contacted me about it (as I had lined up the host band), but ultimately, SPAH did what they wanted and I didn't have to decide anything.

My band the Kalu James Band will perform at SPAH on Friday at 4pm. Not a lot of rock bands at SPAH, so come on!
