Hi guys!

I have a problem that I hope you guys(or girls!) can help me out with:)

I've been playing for a little over a year now and I'm starting to get the hang of it. My girlfriend bought me a green bullet mic for christmas, and I've started to play amp'ed. BUT there's a problem. I cut off pretty much my entire right thumb in a work accident ten years ago,so I'm having a hard time trying to cup the mic. I guess I need a slimmer mic to get a good cup. So my question to you guys is: What sort of dynamic (as opposed to crystal or ceramic-element) mics are commercially available, new, that work for harp?

Adam mentions hi Shure mic in lesson 001, and probably in other lessons as well.

There's an ad on Adam's home page for the Hoodoo Hand wireless mic, which you wear on your finger. If you click on his ad, it doesn't say much yet, though. Here's something I found with a Google search that gives you a bit more info. I don't know these guys, this is not an endorsement, etc etc.

Copy and paste the above text to see it. No clicky links on this board.

If you hold the harmonica with both hands using the method where you have a side of the harmonica in each of two cupped hands, you should be able to hold the green bullet in the back of the cup of the hands. This way of holding is shown in this lesson: http://youtube.com/watch?v=e30HX7B3aYE

Thanks for replying,guys!

I have followed Adams videos from the start so I know the kind of mic that Adam use. I'm just a bit courious(spelled correctly?) about other good mics that's out there:)I'll check out the Hoodoo hand but I've seen some reviews that hasn't been too good..

I've tried different ways of holding the harp. I started out with the standard grip, then when I saw Adam's video on his way I changed to "his" way! That helped my playing big time.. But it's hard for me to cup a bullet mic. It's hard to explain without showing you. I don't have big hands, and the missing thumb makes it difficult, even when I try to hold the bullet with the last two or three fingers. I've tried several ways but it just doesn't feel right. I have to consentrate more on holding the harp/mic than playing. So I don't think working on the grip will solve it. I just need a slimmer mic:)

Try an Electro Voice 605. I love them. They are a little smaller diameter and they sound wonderful. These are older mics and some are hotter than others. The hooter the better.

Hi Guys,

try the electra voice range. I have an EV re10 wich is brilliant and I can get just as much tone out of it as a Bullit, the key is technique, I have two astatic JT30's Crystal and Ceramic both are good but I prefer the RE10 Its warmer and dirtier and gives me the room to articulate the notes. you could also try the sure sm57 that is a great mic Jason Ricci uses this one. look at carlos del junco vids for the RE10.

look at this site for all your mic info www.harmonicamasterclass.com/vintage_collection.htm
Hope this helps

cheers russ

Are there many harp mics out there that are smaller diameter than a Green Bullet? I'm going to try an EV605. I also have fairly small hands and although I can keep the airtight seal playing holes 1 to 6 tongue-blocked if I try 7 to 9 I just seem to lose it every time.

Thanks for all the good suggestions guys! Now I know what to look for. I guess I just have to get me an Ebay-account so I can try and get one of deluxe's mics:)

Just got a shaker mic. Fantastic! Highly recommend it if you're struggling with the green bullet. Thanks for that.
