It's official: On Saturday, September 15, Ronnie and I will be teaming up to do an all-day clinic plus an evening show with Aki Kumar and special guests. This is the first West Coast appearance for both of us. (Ronnie has never played or taught there; I took part in a harp show at the House of Blues LA as part of Satan & Adam in the mid-1990s, but I'm going to not count that.)
I hope you'll spread the word, and of course I hope we'll see some of you there.
Here's the website:

PLEASE NOTE: This event will NOT RUN unless we get sufficient advance registration that we're able to purchase our plane tickets. So if you're thinking about attending, please commit! Of course your fee is fully refundable in the event that the event doesn't manage to "make."

We've now got 46 registrants for the September 15th clinic. Only 14 spots left--we've capped it at 60--and almost three months to go. I'll go out on a limb and say: If you were planning on being able to walk in on day-of and register then, you're making a big mistake. I haven't yet uploaded a YouTube video telling people about it. Once I do that, we'll close out pretty quickly.
So make your reservations TODAY:

The show was 15 years ago, it featured Sugar Blue, James Harman, Johnny Dyer, and, as I recall, Bernie Pearl and Harmonica Fats. No Rod Piazza.
Sure, I played in California once. This will be my second time. First time with my last name.
Their.
It's OK to be literal when somebody is trying to be figurative, but sometimes guys in the slammer cut you a new one when you do that.

Ronnie and I now have 63 pre-registered attendees for our Sept. 15th clinic in San Jose. After deliberating on the matter and checking with the Grand Dell Saloon to make sure there's space, we decided yesterday to increase the clinic from 60 to 70.
Seventy is a hard ceiling. We won't expand it past there. But we felt that when an event sells out more than two months before it happens, the right thing to do is make a little more space.
Needless to say, the seven remaining spots are likely to disappear long before Sept. 15th. If you were planning on attending but haven't yet registered, now would be a good time--and may be the only time--to register.
We're delighted at this exceptionally strong response. There's no question that David Barrett, who alerted his extensive mailing list to the event early on, deserves significant credit.
