Hey everyone,

YHAI- the premier young harmonica organization founded by my friend Conflictz (Connor Frontera) and myself will be making an appearance at Hill Country Harmonica this year. We will be showcasing several of our members including Andrew Alli, Mike Street, Dan Ridgeway, and Justine Missik. We will also be making a brief presentation about the organization during the weekend.
We need your support and interest in growing this youth organization and promoting interest among young harmonica players everywhere. Please feel free to visit our facebook page at:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/158751274190184/

And pass any questions along to Connor Frontera @:

Or myself @: https://www.facebook.com/brandonobailey

thank you Brandon!

Harmonica players, we need your support! anything you think you can offer, we will graciously accept. In the infancy of our organization, expansion is very important, so please tell all of the young harmonica players you know, even new players that with our help, they can become allstars too! The organization is free to join so we need help and support. reach out and you will never be dissapointed!

Tell Mike I said hey when you see him. He's a fine man and good harp customizer too.

I put a link on the Elk River Harmonicas Facebook page and the Elk River Forum. This is wonderful news. This is PRECISELY what you need to be doing. This is PRECISELY what needs to be done to ensure our wonderful instrument survives.

I love the name. Sounds like you guys should have a comic book where you fight crime and stuff. I can help you create your arch-villains. I was thinking somekind of Legion of Doomed Reeds, led by super-villain Sticky Windsaver and a motley crew of villians, such as Stress Fracture, Leaky Comb, Overblow Squeal, Comb Crack, Gus and Discord.
Comb Crack would have somekind of Tesla earthquake type machine that could crack the combs of all wood-comb chromatics. Gus could overthrow the world by getting up on stage uninvited of all harmonica bands and playing poorly.
You could go back in time and get Jacob Hohner and Richard Seydel Sr. and they could design stuff in your lair.
Have you ever seen Metalocolypse? Maybe something like that. Only with harmonicas.

Edited to add:
The Elk River Institute for Advanced Harmonica Studies would be proud to offer you space for a secret lair, which would be called "The Harpcave."

OK last one
"Harmonica Twin Powers, Activate! Form of... a 2-5 split. Shape of... a Hering 1923 Vintage Harp."

Besides creating characters and plots, how can I help? Seriously, how can I help? I am a professional writer, I can help you with media and stuff. Or anything else you can think of.

Thanks very much Mr. Payne. We do plan to get a newsletter running soon and could really use a great writer such as yourself. The current goals are to really get the word out and gain exposure for the organization.
We will also be at SPAH and will be pushing YHAI to the fullest.

You got me. Whatever you need.
What's your mission? This would be something to look back at what they were doing back in the 1930s for some inspiration.

How about I just send Brandon $15 to help with a small bit of the expenses, in the real world, that these kids are bound meet.

It should get enough gas to get from Memphis to Oxford.

I'm sure there are some forum members that can match that---to get 'em back home.

Well Freewilly, i would love to make a website, but i do not know anyone that designs them, that is exactly what i am talking about here and trying to get everyones attention. it would be awesome to have a website and some other cool stuff. if you come across someone that designs them, please ask them to lend us a hand =)

and to you mandowhacker, it would be very nice to have everyone think like you and donate, because honestly, in this age, the harmonica needs THAT much support. so does every instrument. makes me think about a fundraiser type event we can hold to make some money for the organization and start snowballing. thanks man!

We would really like to become the "official" youth directive of SPAH, while also operating as an independent organization. Our job is to make our instrument truly POPULAR among our generation by showing what it can do and how much fun can be had with it. To do this we will need:

-Creativity
-Webpages
-A printed newsletter
-Incentives for new and current members
-Advertising/Word on the Street
-Partnerships with all of the Major harmonica manufacturers
-Money to make these things happen

Yes, I just got the email about that today. I think it's great.

From the manufacturers, we need sort of their personal stamp of approval and participation. Perhaps like a small banner or stamp on their website linking to our cause or to just show they they participate. Having donated incentives would be helpful as well, such as T-shirts or Instrument samples or even just stickers that we can periodically send to our members.

I can hook you up with some stuff from Elk River Harmonicas. I can say, "Hey, I've got this or that, I'll send it to the Allstars." Manufacturers are different. They want to either approve a request or deny a specific request, as opposed to just keeping you in mind.
When you approach the manufacturer, they will want very specific requests. As in, we have ______ planned, where we are doing _______. We need ________ from you. We will gladly hang your banner, etc.

Of course, if you are going to mail stuff, you will need $$$$. Email is free. You may want to start with an e-mail newsletter.
What do you want me to link to? I'll set up a link on Elk River. I can host a forum for the Allstars to discuss being Allstars or whatever, if you want that. I would be glad to talk to Seydel on your behalf.

As I would understand, a primary goal would be to reach children. You could create your own instruction stuff and stuff geared for kids. You have a good writer at your disposal, me. You need someone to create art... spefically drawing stuff or graphic art.

Basically, I am at your disposal. This is the type of program I've waited a long time to see. We need to be doing this to preserve our beautiful instrument.
I want this to work. I want to do what I can to help it. You guys figure out the specifics of what you want to do, then I'll do what I can to make it happen.

What is it you guys hope to do? Is this a network of teen and young adult players, more or less a place you can discuss? Is this something where you want to to promote and teach to young people, including children?

@superchucker77:

Ben Hewlett runs HarpsCool ("HarpsCool is a unique and independent Music Service dedicated to teaching the diatonic HARMONICA* and was by set up Ben Hewlett in 1995.") Might be worth talking to him. He's a lovely bloke.

EDIT: *to young people
