Thanks for this info because that's a big time weakness with many guitar players. When hearing Juke, I can't help but think back to the 70's, when I started out and every harp player always played some version, good or flat out horrible, of Juke, Off The Wall, Back Track and Rocker and I got to the point that I absolutely hated hearing it, Juke especially because it was constantly butchered, especially thr rhythm parts by guitar players and so I refused to play Juke. However, when I got to working with Jimmy Rogers, when he asked me to play it with him, there was no way I could refuse that as he was the rhythm guitarist on the original and it was heaven playing it with everyone getting the whole groove down tight, especially being backed by Jimmy himself. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
On Shake Dancer, Lockwood quotes parts of what Bill Butler played on the classic Bill Doggett instrumental Honky Tonk over the 5 & 4 changes a couple of times. That tune is a huge lesson in of itself just for learning how to back a harp player up. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
