I had the best time last night at my mates neighbours sons 21st, I had already been out for about 4 hours when we got to the house party so i was well happy, we came in through the garden and chatted to folks around a big fire pit then me mate dragged me into the front room which was full of twenty year old kids playing guitars and one lad about 17 playing amazing violin! Well i had a couple of harps on me so off we went!, what a blast, i had an absolute ball playing with these kids and even got invited up into the attic den where the spliffs were getting rolled and the Mojo was running like water. Some kid asked me why i had started playing Harp and i replied "The doctor made me do it" and the next thing i knew i was making up a song on the spot with the whole packed room singing those words back at me as the chorus. It must have gone on for ten minutes and a great little blues song just morphed out of nothing and turned the room into a riot of racket, when i finished it off the whole place went wild everyone was high fiveing and hootin and shouting and slaping me on the back. Ohh man it was great those kids really made my night.

Sound like a good time, it's always great when something like that just happens naturally with no planning or expectations.
Hope your feeling fresh today :o)

@geordiebluesman, I can picture the scene and with what you have shown on your videos, I can see why you proved so popular. I think what you have described would be my dream evening, you lucky man. One of those occasions when you wished the video camera was rolling to serve as a permanent reminder. Kudos to you. ----------

Yeah it was a hoot, I even had a kid about 16 who came over all shy and asked if he could rap to my harpin and that went down great, I could'nt believe how fast he was enunciating the words never mind the fact that he was making it up on the spot and it made sense and it was clever. These kids were a talented bunch I'm still buzzin that they let me join in with them.

Ya, the kids are alright. I had fun last week! The wife and I were chaperones for a senior band trip to Banff, Alberta for the Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival of high school, and a few elementary school, bands and choirs from Western Canada and a few up from Montana. They had jazz bands and choirs, concert bands, big bands, symphonic bands, string bands, chamber choirs, even children's choirs. Saw some amazing performances from some very young, dedicated, intelligent and motivated players. I sure hope programs like these survive the "current economic conditions". ----------
