Yesterday I have received a "Resurrected harmonica" from Bluemoon harmonicas.
The buying process was pretty smooth. I exchange some e-mails with Tom to specify the characteristic that I wanted for the harmonica (because he make the harmonica that you want), and then he send me the paying order from pay pal.
I buy this harmonica: - Cover plates of a Marine Band (Stock ones) - Custom Wood Comb (Cherry). - Reed Plates of a Marine Band in "A" - Screws instead of nails. - Two screws to secure the cover plates - Open back
The total cost of this was US$45 (Tom replace the screws whit nails and open the cover for free.)
The harmonica looks great, the comb it flat, it is in tune, and the gaping it is just what you would expect from a new OOTB harp.
In conclusion, this type of "zombi" harmonicas is a great deal, because you can get a great harmonica for a very good price. I live in Chile, and here a stock Marine band cost US$40, so paying US$45 for an harmonica whit custom comb, open cover plates and screws it is an awesome deal!
This is my first Marine Band, I have been playing a BluesMaster (Bb) and a Harpmaster (G) (and a crappy Chinese harp in C) and really liked those harp, but the Marine Band sounds great! in the exact moment that I did the first 123 draw chord it is become in my favorite harp. Unbelievable sound, I love this tuning.
The one thing that I don't like of this model it is that metallic taste when you put your tongue on the comb and touches the reed plate. It is possible to remove a bit of the reed plate to avoid the contact whit mi tongue?
