I am an avid movie watcher. It takes a lot to really impress me at this stage of the game. I watched "The Music Never Stopped" last night and was blown away.
Movies that feature music in regards to how we perceive our reality and/or how our brain works are few and far between.
This one is a real experience - mostly for those of you who were children of the 60's, although everyone could benefit from watching no matter what your orientation.
No car chases. No special effects. Just an amazing story of redemption between a father and a son through the music they shared.
Me and my wife watched this recently, got it from the Library - a real tear jerker at times but leaves you feeling good...2 thumbs up!! Thanks for the recommendation Larry.
I'm a certified music therapist working in a mental health center. I finally got around to this movie and watched it with my wife this week. It's a great movie that really underscores the power of music in our lives. Music therapy is a field which encompasses many different kinds of musical interventions so there is no ONE way to portray what a music therapist looks like in a movie but I thought the portrayal in this movie seemed very authentic although maybe a bit too easy. It can take months to make the progress that the movie displayed in 5 minutes. I highly recommend this movie! All the best, Jay ---------- Music speaks where words fail.
