Oh boy, that's as dark as I remember it being. I always found it very unsettling.
On the other hand I thought Man of the World (from the same era) was one of the sadest, most beautiful autobiographical songs ever written.

@ Groyster Agreed, it looked like he was heading for drug induced self destruction and it was good to see him pull through. An outstanding blues guitarist, great songwriter and pretty tasty on the harp too.

@ Wheezer Yes, very dark and huge energy and menace in the song.

Another song that produces that sense of energy is Wake up' by Rage against the Machine.
