I heard this ancient song performed by Sting from an CD entitled 'If on a Winter's Night' of which the Amazon blurb states...

'presents an arc of songs that conjure the season of spirits, featuring a collection of carols and lullabies spanning the centuries, resulting in a haunting, spiritual and reflective musical journey'

Whatever the blurb, the bottom line is....it's a nice tune:)
I'm playing second position on a Bb Marine Band 1896

I didn't go to church often, so it says a lot that I remembered this song from there. Very catchy, but beautiful non the less.

Nice playing btw. Strong single bend on the 2 draw! Can't stop playing this. My old mom will be delighted when she hears ;)

Thanks!

Thanks a lot.

Well spotted btw. The song has been used as a Christmas Carol but it was new to me as I heard it for the first time by Sting. It's of the Coventry Carol type of song and sounds great with harmonies.

Thanks for this one. The most memorable version for me is this one from a guy who makes very interesting music. (IMO) One of my favorites.
