They are all obviously masters on their respective instruments, but what's the point? I like the groove the keyboard player lays down but the head of the song doesn't do anything for me.

Yes it's very technical but jazz often is, I think. If you go further about him after having been harsh, it definitely means on the contrary that you're not getting old.
