As a collector of different vintage harp amps, mics etc.I have recently logged serial #,s as well as pictures in case of the worst case scenario, robbery, fire.I have a rehearsel studio a room 14 X 24 in my unattached 3 car garage where I keep my equip. My wife has always asked me what the value of my gear was,god forbid if anything happened to me.(or if she dumped me and ended up with it somehow)Anyhow we all know that the cost of a Kalamazoo model two,or say a 74 Princtons in they,re day were cheaper back then compared to now so how would that work in a god forbid insurance claim? The same ques as for vintage mics which btw always come into my house with me after rehearsing. Thanks Folks, any feedback is appreciated.

Depending on total value, you may have enough with your house contents insurance. If not, I would suggest insuring with Clarion Insurance www.clarionins.com/ They specialize in musical instruments and offer great value for money. They accept declared value on anything under $5000. And BTW, they give a pretty hefty discount if you have a subscription to Acoustic Guitar magazine but they don't actually ask you to prove it. They told me about the discount on the phone and when I said, "Wow the discount is worth more than the subscription," she told me it was enough to say I was GOING to subscribe and gave me the discount on the spot.

As to valuations, you should make a list of all your gear with details, as you have done. Be sure to include the little things like, cases, cables and connectors. You'd be surprised how they add up. Then estimate the replacement value at full retail, not market value or Ebay or Musician's Friend but what you would have to pay from a shop. For a Zoo, you might use Greg's pricing for example. For an original early Green Bullet mic you could use Chuck Gurney's pricing at Far Bottom Mics. For an early tweed Fender, go to a vintage amp specialist shop. You should update this on a yearly basis at renewal time.
