I have an MP3 sound file on my computer desktop, and I want to embed it in a post, or at least be able to link to it somewhere. I can do this using the 4shared.com website, but then in order for anyone to listen to it they have to open an account on 4shared. Are there other, less complicated, more direct options, please?

harp-er,

Are you using a Mac, or Windows?

Whatever web site you use, it must allow embedding.

Some here use Soundclick, and I've noticed that those are the most reliable of the audio-only type for playback within the forum (for me at least).

YouTube is pretty easy, but you'll have to make it a movie file, which isn't hard. If you don't want to be on camera you can put a sticky note over your camera.

On a Mac you can use the Photo Booth software that's included in the OS. It will record movie files compatible with YouTube.

Quicktime Player will create movie files on both Mac & Windows, but with Windows I think you may have to buy the Pro version (at least with XP that was true).

Windows Movie Maker was included with XP, I don't know what Windows 7 has.
