A gem of wisdom, from the master Gussow.

Along with his Slow Blues Harmonica on the new Vimeo host, he's put his Raw Naked Blues lesson, in which the intro mentions as above.

I (and who am "I" but actually non-existent) take this to mean we are all entirely dependent on the causes and conditions of the moment before this.

So take care for the causes and conditions we willfully put into the mix.

Not so different from, maybe the same as, basic Buddhist philosophy of the "no self", ie., no inherent, solid, fixed reality to one's ultimate identity, or to the identity/existence of anything else for that matter. Goes along with the concept/reality of "impermanence".

Here's a quote from a well known Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Trungpa Rinpoche, which I love, and which epitomizes this sort of thing in a very personal way:

"The bad news is, you are free falling, with no parachute. The good news is, there's no ground."
